The Indie aesthetic is one of the most common/popular aesthetic that had a new modern take in 2019 to 2020. The Indie aesthetic is now split into two different aesthetics, the orignal and Indie Kid.
The original Indie aesthetic seems to have been created around the 2000's, since then it has become popular in both movies and music.
The main ideas and values for the orignal Indie aesthetic are rooted in individualism and independence.
Some of the common trademarks associated with the Indie aesthetic are vinyl records and CDs, muted color schemes, and Polaroids. Like many aesthetics, Indie has become popular in the music business with musicians like Cavetown, mxmtoon, Beach Bunny, Lovejoy, Of Monsters and Men, and Door Cinema Club being some of the most popular in the Indie genre.
Many of the colors that are often seen in the Indie aesthectic are muted and netural colors with other colors being green, red, and blue.
Indie Kid is a 2000's inspired aesthetic that blew up in popularity on TikTok in 2019 to 2020. Indie Kid is much bright compared to the original Indie style and takes more after the Kidcore and Skater aesthetics.
Indie Kid is credited to being made by Tik Tok creators during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since it was created on a social media, Indie Kid is known for the heavy saturation and low contrast that photos and videos from this aesthetic sport. As far as popular colors go for this aesthetic, there aren't any main colors used, as long as the colors are bright and vivid it'll fit in just fine with this aesthetic.
Some commonly seen motifs of Indie Kid are rainbows, smiley faces, and childlike graphics(like kids tv shows and toys).
